Stacy Light is a National Board Certified Missouri Licensed Professional Counselor and Certified Clinical Hypnotherapist with extensive experience in many areas of counseling. Her background includes working in an inpatient psychiatric unit, aiding patients who suffer from psychiatric and chemical dependency issues. She has also provided counseling on a suicide/crisis hotline. Additionally, she spent five years working with the Center for Disease Control as a Disease Intervention Counselor, where she not only counseled patients but also collaborated with physicians to develop methods of prevention and psychological treatment for STDs/HIV/AIDS.
In private practice, Stacy provides a safe, confidential, non-judgmental environment where she offers psychological counseling and life coaching to adults, adolescents, and couples. By following an integrative (mind/body/spirit) approach to healing, Stacy helps her patients cope with their issues. Her approach to treatment is based on brief (problem-focused), ongoing (depth-oriented), and biopsychosocial models. As a yoga instructor with a Certification in Thai Yoga Therapy, she blends traditional psychological theory with Eastern philosophy.
Stacy collaborates with physicians and clinical staff regarding patient counseling, education, and medical treatment. She trained and supervised middle and high school students involved in their schools’ peer-to-peer counseling program. She speaks with schools and community groups regarding high-risk sexual behavior and leads workshops on topics ranging from mental illness education to meditation. She has also developed an experiential group therapy program called “Climbing Back to Life,” which integrates rock climbing with traditional therapy. This program was originally designed for adolescents and young adults coping with cancer or who have family members with cancer but has now been expanded to include military veterans.
